The Sculpture Walk in the city of Bahía Blanca, close to the center, is an open-air space highly valued by the residents. However, after the storm and floods last Friday, the place turned into a desolate scene. Mud, remnants of vegetation, and dirt cover the streets, destroyed cars, and affected businesses show the consequences of the climatic phenomenon.
This walkway, located along the Napostá stream, which overflowed along the Maldonado canal due to the 400 millimeters of rain that fell in a few hours, is an important site in the city between Fuerte Argentino and Urquiza streets, with homes and commercial establishments. After the flooding, furniture, mattresses, and appliances accumulated in the streets, with many businesses and homes affected by water that reached over 1.50 meters.
One of the affected businesses was a butcher shop whose owner described the scene as chaotic, with refrigerators floating and 30 centimeters of mud. Upon returning to the site the next day, he found the refrigerators and goods destroyed. Losses were estimated at over 20,000 dollars, and the owner expressed the need to start over.
