The Private Hospital of the South continues to be affected by an internal failure in a flooded chamber, while drainage work is being carried out in 40 underground chambers in the micro and macro center to restore service in buildings whose electrical panels are in basements and need to be refurbished.
EDES staff is working on the reconstruction of damaged household facilities, many of which were swept away by currents and struck by vehicles. Additionally, generators are being provided to ensure the operation of ATMs in various areas.
The areas most affected include General Cerri, Ingeniero White, and neighborhoods near the Maldonado canal and the Arroyo Napostá. EDES has reported that it has restored 55% of the electrical service following the severe storm that hit Bahía Blanca. The company continues to work towards fully normalizing the supply.
To accelerate recovery efforts, a team of 400 workers has been deployed, with reinforcements arriving in the coming hours from EDES branches and distributors in the province, such as EDEN and EDEA, along with 100 additional contractors. The company is coordinating with Telecom, Movistar, and Claro to energize their facilities once the antenna recovery work is completed.
The conditions in the city make circulation difficult and require heavy equipment such as hydrographs and hydraulic lifts. Thanks to support from the Army, the company's workers have been able to assist electricity-dependent users in Ingeniero White, one of the most inaccessible areas.
It is estimated that the complete normalization of service will take several days of uninterrupted work. EDES urges the population to follow preventive measures, such as keeping the electrical supply suspended in case of water in the home or damage to the installation, avoiding circulation in flooded areas, and staying away from external electrical installations, as well as not touching cut wires.
The company is working in coordination with the Municipality, Civil Defense, and Firefighters and reaffirms its commitment to use all available resources to address this situation. On the other hand, the electrical supply in the Penna, Español, Ham, Matera, and Municipal hospitals has already been normalized.
