The municipality of Bahía Blanca, together with the province of Buenos Aires, the Federal Security Forces, the Navy, and the Argentine Army, continue rescue and assistance efforts in the areas hardest hit by the recent storm. Tragically, the rainfall storm has resulted in the deaths of 13 people, and the search for several missing individuals is ongoing. Authorities are working hard to restore services in various parts of the city and in the towns of General Daniel Cerri and Ingeniero White, which have been severely affected by the floods.
Educational and university authorities have decided to suspend classes on Monday and Tuesday to prioritize the safety of the population and facilitate recovery efforts. According to the latest report from the Contingency Committee, in Ingeniero White, the water level has begun to gradually decrease, and in Daniel Cerri, the accumulation of water has nearly completely subsided. During the nights, security forces work in collaboration to ensure citizen protection and prevent further inconveniences.
The electricity company EDES has communicated that 40% of users now have electricity supply, and efforts continue in the hardest-hit areas such as Cerri, White, Napostá neighborhood, Tiro Federal, Bella Vista, and part of Villa Mitre. Regarding water supply, the company ABSA has made available the number 0800-999-2272 for buildings and consortia without electricity to request assistance with their lifting pumps.
Concerning the condition of the roads, National Highway Authority has reported that several routes remain closed or have limited circulation due to the presence of water and surface deterioration. For example, RN 3 has total closures at km 674-672 due to sinkholes, at km 708, and at km 692 due to problems in the Maldonado canal. RN 22 is passable up to its junction with RN 3, but it is not possible to reach Bahía Blanca by that route. It is recommended to avoid traveling on affected roads and to exercise extreme caution on those that are still passable.
