Two girls, Delfina and Pilar Hecker, aged 1 and 5, are being intensely searched for after being swept away by a current during a severe storm in Bahía Blanca that has caused at least 13 deaths and severe damage, according to official sources. The little girls were traveling with their parents towards Mayor Buratovich when, on the road, the car driven by their father got trapped in the water on Route 3 and was swept away by a strong current.
The girls' mother was swept away by the current and was rescued hours later by a man behind a junkyard. Despite her recovery, there is still no news about the whereabouts of the girls. The aunt of the little ones has expressed her hope of finding them alive, appealing to the community's solidarity and requesting the authorities to mobilize more in the search.
Search and rescue operations continue in the area affected by the flooding, while specialized teams work tirelessly. The family was trying to reach the home of relatives to seek shelter from the storms warned by the National Meteorological Service. In an attempt to transfer vehicles, a stronger current swept them all away, taking Delfina and leaving Pilar on the roof of the car. The family's anguish and desperation are palpable as the community remains on edge, waiting for news of the girls and all the missing persons.
