The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, announced that the National Government is considering providing direct assistance to citizens affected by the storm in Bahía Blanca. Bullrich pointed out that the Minister of Finance, Luis Caputo, is evaluating the possibility of sending help in the form of furniture and working capital. In statements to A24, the minister emphasized that a house-to-house repair will be carried out to restore the normalcy of the lives of the affected individuals.
"Now comes a family-by-family repair to be able to return to their lives, to normalcy," Bullrich expressed. Additionally, she mentioned that key objectives are being addressed such as cleaning the city, removing mud, and evacuating areas that hinder electricity supply. Bullrich mentioned that discussions have been held with President Javier Milei and the Minister of Economy about the possibility of providing direct assistance to individuals and private companies to enable the reconstruction of their lives.
Regarding the donations received, Bullrich requested that they be organized and classified to expedite the tasks, as many workers are focused on cleaning the city. She highlighted that more than 150 families from the Coast Guard and Gendarmerie have suffered losses and that the city has been severely affected by the floods, although intensive cleaning work has begun following the improvement in weather conditions.
Although 32% of schools suffered considerable damage, there are plans to reopen the institutions to restore normalcy. Bullrich praised the exemplary behavior of the population and assured that the majority have behaved appropriately, revealing that organized supply centers have been established for the equitable distribution of food and resources.
