The Racing team is competing in the semifinals of the Copa Sudamericana after achieving an important 2-2 draw during their visit to Corinthians. The team coached by Gustavo Costas managed to reach the top four of the continental tournament after eliminating Paranaense, something they hadn't achieved since 1997.
The series started in Brazil on Thursday, October 24 and will conclude at the Cilindro a week later, on Thursday, October 31 at 9:30 PM. In case of a tie in the aggregate score, the decision will be made by penalties, which could lead Racing to another decisive match.
Racing faces Ramón Díaz's Corinthians in this semifinal, being the home team in the return leg, as they were in the round of 16 and quarter-finals. Starting in 2022, the away goals rule with double value in case of a tie was eliminated, which adds another element of uncertainty to the competition.
In the words of Gustavo Costas: "We are happy with what we showed in the first match, but we know there is still an important step to take. Corinthians is a tough opponent, but I trust in the quality of our players to achieve qualification".
