Racing Fans Stage Epic Display Ahead of Avellaneda Classic

Buenos Aires, April 3 (NA) – Racing Club fans staged an impressive flag-waving display at El Cilindro to rally the team ahead of their match against Independiente in the latest edition of the Avellaneda Classic. According to the Argentine News Agency, supporters of 'La Academia' filled the Presidente Perón stadium with flares and chants before the encounter, set to take place this Saturday at the Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini stadium starting at 5:30 PM. Along with the white and blue smoke and lights, fans who gathered at the home of the albiceleste team to support the players unfurled flags with the messages: 'A life of Grondona' and 'Unhappy 23 years'. Racing, coming off three consecutive wins (against Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, Belgrano de Córdoba, and San Martín de Formosa in the Copa Argentina), must prepare for a demanding series of matches. In addition to the clash with their eternal rival, the team coached by Gustavo Costas will face Independiente Petrolero – Tuesday, April 7, for the Copa Sudamericana, River Plate – Sunday, 4/12, for the Torneo Apertura, and Botafogo – Wednesday, 15, in the international championship. While La Academia sits in fifth place in Zone B with 18 points, Independiente is out of playoff positions, making a victory in the Avellaneda Classic crucial for their chances of qualifying for the Torneo Apertura round of 16.
