Racing defeated Botafogo 2-0 in the first leg of the Recopa Sudamericana at the Presidente Perón stadium. The referee of the match was Felipe González, with VAR managed by Rodrigo Carvajal, both from Chile.

The first goal of the Argentine team came in the 30th minute of the first half, through a penalty executed by Luciano Vietto, who finished to the right post of John Victor. The second goal was scored by Adrián Martínez in the 17th minute of the second half, after an excellent collective play.

Regarding Botafogo's chances, in the 18th minute of the first half they had the clearest opportunity with a counterattack, but Racing's goalkeeper responded solidly in the one-on-one. The only dangerous attack from the Brazilians was two minutes later. Cuiabano was sent off in the visiting team.

During the second half, Racing had other chances to extend the lead, including a penalty in their favor converted by Martínez. Likewise, Salas and Martínez showed good connections in attack.
