The Buenos Aires Graphic Federation (FGB) has called for an "urgent plenary" of delegates due to the announcement of the closure of the plant of the industrial company "Anselmo Morvillo SRL" in Avellaneda, leaving about 200 workers unemployed. The firm, recognized in the graphic sector, announced the dismissal of its employees and the cessation of operations in Avellaneda through a statement on social media.
In response to the situation, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Labor decreed mandatory conciliation for 15 business days. The FGB, for its part, issued a strong statement against the company and called for its plenary of delegates. The union, led by Héctor Amichetti, criticizes the company for arguing a crisis by offloading the consequences onto the working families who have contributed to the company’s leadership in the graphic activity for over 50 years.
The graphic union denounced a possible employer lockout and emphasized the need for active solidarity to defend jobs. They also expressed their rejection of the policies that they consider destructive to the national industry and labor rights implemented by the Government.
In an internal statement addressed to its employees, "Anselmo Morvillo SRL" acknowledges its nearly half-century trajectory in the market as one of the best companies. However, the company points out that it is in a critical economic and financial situation, attributed to the sector's crisis in recent years and mention the closures of companies such as Donnelly in 2014, AGR in 2016, and IPESA in 2020 as precedents that have influenced its decision to close.
