Three seven-year-old girls drowned in a lagoon located in the Cantera neighborhood in the city of Apóstoles, Misiones province. Despite the rapid intervention of police and health services, and the resuscitation maneuvers performed, the minors died. The tragic event occurred around 15:40 last Saturday when personnel from the Misiones Police, with the collaboration of the Infantry Division and Radio Command, were commissioned by the 911 CIO in response to an emergency call alerting to minors in a lagoon in the Cantera area. According to a Misiones Online report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, officers arrived at the scene with an ambulance from the local hospital, and doctors confirmed that the three little girls showed signs of drowning by immersion asphyxiation. In this situation, police and health personnel immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and arranged for urgent transfer to the Local Hospital, but, despite the efforts made at the scene and at the health center, the on-duty doctor confirmed the death of the three girls. Meanwhile, it was indicated that the victims were with their mothers and other relatives when, for reasons under investigation, they entered the water. Additionally, it was reported that the relatives were assisted and accompanied by police and health personnel, while the intervention of the police doctor and the Scientific Police was requested, and the intervening judge was notified.
