Key Hearing for Loan Danilo Peña Case Held

The key hearing for those detained for the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña in Corrientes took place this Thursday, and now it remains to be seen what the Chamber will decide in the coming days. Although the hearing was expected for today, it finally occurred on Thursday, where the defenses of María Victoria Caillava, former sailor Carlos Pérez, Daniel "Fierrito" Ramírez, Antonio Benítez, former commissioner Walter Maciel, Laudelina Peña, and Mónica Millapi presented their appeals.

After a crucial day, Juan Pablo Gallego, lawyer for the family of the missing child, expressed to Noticias Argentinas that he hopes "the Chamber confirms the prosecutions and detentions." Gallego explained that the resolution could take about five or six days to be issued and was optimistic that the prosecutions will be confirmed to enable an oral trial against the kidnappers of Loan.

Meanwhile, the seven accused remain detained, with Mónica Millapi under house arrest, and the investigation continues to clarify what happened to the boy on June 13, 2024, in the town of 9 de Julio, Corrientes. Judge Cristina Penzo has charged six of the detainees as co-authors of the abduction of the minor and threats, while the former commissioner is accused of several crimes related to Loan's disappearance, being described as a materially responsible perpetrator.
